Install the LS1 stud kit today… No issues but it was a good thing we did it because two more bolts broke off as we were removing and replacing them

Got the start up ticking the other morning so I checked the bolts. Rear driver and pass side are gone. 05 EXT with 130,000.

i swapped all my manifold bolts with LS1 head bolt kit from Summit Racing...perfect fit and much stronger than stock OEM manifold bolts.
My Cadillac Tech told me even the new generation has same issues w/ manifold bolts

Yes they do, its best to use bolts other than from the manufacturer

it's a shame that for a $60k+ truck a key component for your engine is made from sh*tty metals, probably imported from China

Did you use SUM-910210? How did you remove broken bolts? Where the sticking out or flush with the head?
    Thanks

lucky you, i had not only broken but recessed, my snap-on trusty extractor kit and an angle drill saved me from pulling the head

Re: 05 Escalade 6.0 manifold bolts broken?

well crap, guess I need to check these as well.

FYI: this isn't a GM only concern. It's been affecting 99-10 model Fords with 4.6, 5.4, 6.8 motors as well. I have 1-2 on my V-10 at the moment that I bought all the tools for, just waiting for motivation to perform stud/bolt extraction and replacement.

does anyone know the thread/pitch for these 6.0 bolts? I'd rather buy stainless steel bolts/washers. I can get them for ~$10 vice buying a kit
