    Question 2000 escalade door keys

I recently discovered that our ignition key only opens the passenger door. Is that normal??? We have had the 2000 Escalade for 8 months and only recently tried the key in the door....Always used the remote before.

the previous owner might have had the drivers door handle replaced (theft damage or from an accident), but didn't have the lock rekeyed. just a possibility.

I've only used my key once, on the driver's door. After the alarm went off because I didn't put the key into the ignition, I've always used the remote since.

It just went off warranty and I forgot to have the dealer look at it. Rats. Well now something else to take care of. Has anybody rekeyed a door??? How much did it cost??

    Re: 2000 escalade door keys

I had a 2000 Escalade and something even krazier than that happened. My friends 1999 Yukon key opened my door. The key didn't start the truck but did open the door. With this in mind I tried to open his truck with my key and it worked . I also tried to open my cousins 99 Denali with my key and it worked. I never got a chance to take it to the dealer b/c I sold the truck.
