Angry Oil change...you get what you pay for

I need to vent my frustrations to somebody so here goes:

I got my first oil change in my AWD Lade today. For the sake of saving a few bucks and a few minutes, I decided to go to Wal-Mart to get it done. I decided on Mobil 1 which is the oil of choice, according to popular opinion.

So after (patiently) waiting an hour and forty-five minutes they moved my Lade into the bay and the worst part of the whole deal is when I got into my Lade there was oil smeared on the seat, and on the inside and outside of the door. Needless to say that required a car wash and some leather cleaner.

The moral to this rant is...you get exactly what you pay for. I "saved" 10 bucks by going to our friendly local discount store, and I got exactly what I payed for!! My next oil change will be at the dealer. :banghead2

I change my oil at the dealers... but I take my own oil there (Mobil 1), usually the dealer only charges about 20 something bucks. Try sears as well, they are usually friendly and clean.

I had already complained to the manager about something else, so I just held my tongue about the oil smears. I didn't want to be a huge pain in the ass. The manager was just a kid anyway. I found it interesting that there was no number anywhere to call and complain about damages, poor service, etc.

One of life's lessons. I agree with fast 66, from now on I'll buy my oil at the discount store and get it changed at the dealer.

Why not do the oil change yourself? You'll know it's done right and takes 15 minutes.

if i didn't have a friend who does it for me, i would do it myself. but my friend is a good guy and he helps me out with other stuff, so i like to give him the business.

i would have definitely complained. you shouldn't have had to pay for that oil change.

How hard is it to get to the oil filter? That is usually the hardest part of the oil change. And does the dealer still grease and lube the chassis and where would that be done. Also how do you reset the oil life meter? I want to change my own oil too, but want to see if it is worth the hassle.

I go to the dealer every 3 months ( I never make the mileage always under) to get my oil changed and I don't pay a penny, and every 5 thousand miles I have my tires rotated....And I'm in and out within 30 minutes and this is a very large dealership.....Sami
