About to trade my CTS for EXT....
So Ive came to a point where I was about to dump 2k into the Cts for a V bumper and cowl hood, as much as Id like to do it, I could put and EXT to better use.
Ive searched so far and found headlights, tailights, mild lift kits( not a promising company), cat backs, programmers, and ONLY shorties
My question to you guys is what is there for Long tubes? What programmer do you personally feel is best?Ive seen talk in threads about cams, searched it, but cant come up with a clear company that makes a cam, I did find a ONE cam package with springs and all but I didnt trust the website.
Other than that I cant wait to join your community

Re: About to trade my CTS for EXT....
Hey man, Im getting stuck everywhere, the vette sucks in snow, cts is a little better but damn does it do horrible so Im gonna trade before I dump 2k in it. beside Im tempted to hear what my JL 12W7's sound in it haha
I just kept think about puttin cars to use and honestly the cts is bad ass but I got the vette for looks and speed, the EXT i can actually haul stuff without having to put them in my back seat, and maybe take a drive on the beach, hell I may even buy a boat for week end fun haha
Im feelin a 26" tv in it, just gotta think where
When I get it, we'll meet up, im just lookin for some damn performance mods, I know not every escalade owner is a retired senior citizen lol so someone has to know something

Thanks for any help
i have a tune in mine. it was done by a High Perf shop here in socal. i would talk to a local high perf shop if u have one in your area.
you can also send out your ECU to this guy that puts a "canned tune" on it. (google "Wheatley tune") or you can call him directly and talk to him on whats best for you.
as far as Cams...since its basically a Ls2 motor (LQ9 or LQ4 depending on the year is the correct designation) just search for cams for the LSX motors. again i would talk to a reputable High Performance shop in your area. that way they can do the install and dyno tune along with ecu tune if needed.
EDIT: i just remember on my old 00 Sierra..i had the LQ9 6liter. i got the motor out of an 06 escalade. here is a list on what i had done to it..so pretty much there is aftermarket perf parts..just talk to ur local tuner guy
LQ9 6liter
Comp Cams Xr281
AFR 245cc LSX heads
Forged Bottom end Eagle rods
Edelbrock Shortie headers
Diablo Tune
FAST intake
8.1L injectors
473RWHP 505Tq
TCI 4L60E w/ Sat nite torque converter
was a beast...

woah woah waoh, wait a second, the escalades are basically ls2's?
why do you say basically? Ill search more on the motor of the LQ9 or LQ4
I have a vette and some ls connections so this would work perfectly! any links to further help my research would be great!
Thank you so much Daz00DHS!!

yes sirree..put it this way. its the new age chevy smallblock. like how parts for a 283-350 are interchangeable (back in the day). same with the LSX/LQ9/LQ4 motors to some degree (some brackets would be different for each application of course) but it boils down to having the same heart and soul
a lot of people prefer the LQ9s being its the iron block (thicker casting= more room to bore/stroke it) and higher compression ratio 10.1 from the factory.
LQ9s came in 2002-2006 Escalades and EXT's.
best place to get info on Ls2 motors is over at LS2 forums..for the LQ9/LQ4 gurus i would go to Fullsizechevy dot com.
a bit more info on our motors.. Generation III LQ4
The Vortec 6000, or LQ4, is a V8 truck engine. Displacement is 6.0 L (~366 cu in) from 101.6 mm bore and 92 mm stroke. It is an iron/aluminum (2000 model year engines had cast iron heads) design and produces 300 horsepower (220 kW) to 325 horsepower (242 kW) and 360 lb·ft (488 N·m) to 370 lb·ft (502 N·m). LQ4s are built in Romulus, Michigan and Silao, Mexico.
LQ4 applications:
* Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana

LQ9
The Vortec HO 6000 or VortecMAX is a special high-output version of the Vortec 6000 V8 truck engine originally designed for Cadillac. This engine was introduced in other truck lines as VortecMAX for 2006. It features high-compression (10:1) flat-top pistons for an extra 10 hp (7.5 kW) and 10 ft·lbf (14 N·m), bringing output to 347 hp (257 kW) and 380 ft·lbf (515 N·m). LQ9s are built only in Romulus, Michigan. GM also listed it as based on LS architecture.
LQ9 Applications:
* 2002-2006 Cadillac Escalade
* 2002-2006 Cadillac Escalade EXT
* 2003-2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV
* 2003-2007 Chevrolet Silverado SS
* 2004-2005 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Vortec HO Edition Only [Badging on truck](B4V)

LQ4/LQ9
As the LS6 was being developed inside GM, engineers were so enamored with its performance that they decided to spread some love to the truck line as well. By bolting LS6-style heads to a big-bore iron block, GM created the LQ4. Offered as the top-of-the-line gasoline engine in fullsize pickups and SUVs, the LQ4 was rated at a stout 300 hp and 360-370 lb-ft. In '02, Cadillac wanted a piece of the action too, and added a bigger cam and more compression to boost output to 347 hp. Due to their rugged iron blocks, generous 4.000-inch bore diameters, and excellent cylinder heads, the LQ4 and LQ9 are among the most coveted Gen III/IV motors on the secondhand market. With the exception of their larger combustion chambers, the LQ4/LQ9 heads are virtually identical to the LS6 castings. Furthermore, their 4.000-inch bores enable them to be paired with GM L92 cylinder heads. By bolting a set of these budget $800 rectangle-port castings to a stock 6.0L short-block, you can make some serious power for peanuts. Unless you're excessively fastidious about saving a few pounds, it makes little sense to pass up on an LQ4/LQ9 for a comparably priced LS1/LS6.

LS3/L92/L99
Adequately covering the LS3's history requires first examining the L92. This trick Gen IV mill debuted in the '07 Cadillac Escalade, and is rated at 403 hp. Its outstanding output is largely attributable to a set of rectangle-port cylinder heads that borrow their basic port design from the LS7. These castings flow 330 cfm out of the box, and are available for just $800 fully assembled from GMPP. Blurring the lines between GM's car and truck lines of engines, the L92 was the first Vortec motor with an aluminum block, and the first GM small-block ever to utilize variable valve timing. The bump in displacement to 6.2L over the LS2 and Vortec 6000 comes courtesy of a larger 4.065-inch bore. By dropping the L92's variable valve timing capabilities and fitting a lower-profile intake manifold, GM created the LS3 to serve as the base motor in the '08-and-up Corvette. In addition to a slightly stronger block than the LS2, the LS3 is fitted with an '01 LS6 cam that's been tweaked with a smidgen more intake lobe lift. The result is 430 hp and 428 lb-ft. As with prior generations, the base Corvette motor also powers the top-of-the-line 2010 Camaro. However, automatic-equipped SS Camaros have an L99 under their hoods, which is a slightly detuned LS3 with active cylinder deactivation that produces 400 hp and 410 lb-ft.

How can you bolt up a head that has a bigger bore(being the L92 heads) to a smaller bore block? Is that a typo? I read this article in the magazine itself and could double check later, but wouldnt the correct "bolt up head" be a head from an ls2?
Then looking into intakes I found something about an L76 intake manifold.
Will research cams, I will mostly look for Ls2 cams....
thats a lot to process after a night of drinking for me lol.......
im not sure what is the exact process on how to bolt those heads. its a fairly new thing the 6liter guys are doing. im not familiar on the subject. its been a year since i had my sierra. so i been out of the loop.
so best bet brotha is hit up the guys over at the forums i mentioned and another one to go to is performancetrucks dot net. or u can talk to my tuner guy who specializes on LS motors. GRC Performance Mission Viejo,ca ask for Umberto
