    Re: Offroading?

welcome to the board. i've never taken mine off-roading, but have had to drive in a couple fields and over a couple curbs and it handled it like it was nothing. haven't had it in snow yet (just got my EXT in may) but i'm sure it'll do fine.

I had my 99 lade through 1 year of winter. They get great traction and hardly slide at all.

    Re: Offroading?

I drove in lots of snow last winter with my '03. I live in Canada too. The Escalade is great in the snow and ice... the stability / traction control system does and amazing job. The all seasons aren't the best so if you want really good winter driving get some good winter tires (I got Winter Duellers and am very happy with the performance.)

I haven't been offroading and don't plan too but I can tell you that my friend and I had matching 01 Denali's (similar engine / body to Escalade) and he took his through some of the craziest offroading areas in BC with great success... he has done lots of offroading and swears the Denali is the best around as far as SUV's go. He ripped off and damaged various pieces of the molded ground effects and the hitch plug-in, and he got stuck between 2 trees once.. LOL but he always got through in the end. I would assume that the Escalade would be as good as or better than a Denali for offroading if you really want to do it.

    Re: Offroading?

I have a home in upsate NY and last year I drove through over 3 ft of snow, it was cold so the snow was light, but still it was a lot on snow, the only problem is after about a half hour I would have to stop to clear the snow from the grill due to the depth of snow. I have Bridgestone Revo tires, they are the best all around tire.

    Re: Offroading?

i'd have to say if you really want to go offroading (more than a muddy fields and such) then you'd be better off with an 99-00 Lade because of the 4WD. 4WD will get you through much more than 2WD or AWD.

i'm installing a 10-12" lift kit on my 99 this weekend, so i'll be offroading it a bit more.

If you want to go off-roading than buy a Range Rover.
