I personally just want to tear out the head unit and put the TV in without losing the Bose quality and steering controls; Onstar isn't as important to me, but is nice to have. Will those adapters work with any TV brand or do I have to get a name brand such as Alpine? I saw on the adaptor site that they may be for the 03 and up systems only. Will my stock speakers sound the same with a new head unit, and will I really loose the 6 disk changer?

Should work with any headunit. Stock speakers will only sound as good as the amount of power going to them. Less than stock and they will sound like junk. Equivalent or more power and they will obviously sound the same maybe even better due to the audio processing of the headunit. Yes you will use your stock changer.

So do you have a preference in brand? Everyone seems to say ALPINE. Will all the TV's work in collaboration with the CD changer? Also, I've had bad experiences with replacing headunits and not the whole system, so I am apprehensive.

I'm partial to Alpine with Pioneer a close second.

You'll need a new aftermarket changer. Alpine had a nice MP3/CD chenger as well as a DVD/CD changer.

No but any good audio should should be able to mount it there granted there is enough space.

I've got a Panasonic (forgot the model) and it is great. The picture is awesome and the surround sound works great. It isn't a touch screen and the remote is really easy to work. When they installed it they had to get an adaptor to hook everything up to the BOSE system, but all my steering wheel controls work along with OnStar. Only problem is the adaptor is $200.

that's not too bad if it gets everything to work.
