Angry 2004 Escalade - Transmission done?

Remove this ad
I've had my 2004 escalade base AWD for exactly 9 days. Yesterday - I put the vehicle into reverse and "bam" - a whine, and no amount of acceleration would move the car in reverse. I put the car into drive - and all through 2nd gear - the transmission would whine at a high pitch. Once the car switched to 3rd - it went away.

Is my transmission toast?

THANKS!

Fluid is fine. Pink/red, full, no metal shavings.

There was a similar thread not long ago about the same issue which wasn't transmission related. Might want to have a look into that.

Hey I had a whine and I was told that it might be the front diff then I was told it might be the tranny lol - kinda odd when I unintentionally discovered it was my wheel bearings!

Re: 2004 Escalade - Transmission done?

Good suggestion PC. I have heard the same from a couple of others.
But maybe not the case here. No movement in reverse???? Sounds maybe like something else to me.
Nice to see you back PC!

Hiiii Oldworld How's your Escalade coming along? BTW, to the OP - there was a link on here about a week ago for rebuilt Escalade tranny's that cost like $600 or so. I have it saved in my favorites somewhere if you want the link...
