2004 Escalade - Transmission done?

I've had my 2004 escalade base AWD for exactly 9 days. Yesterday - I put the vehicle into reverse and "bam" - a whine, and no amount of acceleration would move the car in reverse

. I put the car into drive - and all through 2nd gear - the transmission would whine at a high pitch. Once the car switched to 3rd - it went away.

Is my transmission toast?

Sounds like burnt toast........how is the fluid??

Fluid is fine. Pink/red, full, no metal shavings.

There was a similar thread not long ago about the same issue which wasn't transmission related. Might want to have a look into that.

Hey I had a whine and I was told that it might be the front diff then I was told it might be the tranny lol - kinda odd when I unintentionally discovered it was my wheel bearings!

Good suggestion PC. I have heard the same from a couple of others.
But maybe not the case here. No movement in reverse???? Sounds maybe like something else to me.

How's your Escalade coming along? BTW, to the OP - there was a link on here about a week ago for rebuilt Escalade tranny's that cost like $600 or so. I have it saved in my favorites somewhere if you want the link...
