Aftermarket Navigation System installed in Escalade

Remove this ad
I was thinking of replacing my stock Navi with an Aftermarket Navigation System.

I'm looking into the Pioneer Avic Z110bt & was curious to see how many of you Escalade owners out there have done the switch and what you think about it.

I had a Pioneer Avic Z2 installed in my previous SUV and I loved it. I'm not a big fan of this Stock Navi that comes in the Escalade.

I'm waying the pros and cons so far I don't use onStar and I also don't have Xm radio subscription so my only other thought is I can always just add a steering wheel control interface to still have the ability to use my steering wheel controls.

I'm open to suggestions. I have an 04 Escalade.
Any pros & cons I should know about with doing this with an Escalade?

Re: Aftermarket Navigation System installed in Escalade

I installed an aftermarket navi system on my truck and I love it. I went with a Kenwood setup and also have Sirius. Im the same dont use the onstar. I went with the interface to use the steering wheel controls, although I still find myself not using them much. I cant think of any cons if done properly, your not really losing aything, just getting a better Navi system.

I have an 04, and in my opinion, stock nav sucks! I went with aftermarket - JVC kw nx7000, and I love it. I also put in the steering wheel controls.

Pros: looks better, works better, radio sounds better

Cons: Fitting all that crap (steering wheel adapter and factory integration adapter) behind the radio

Hey Cepman & Quik do you have any pictures you could show. I would love to see what it looks like.

Maybe I can just drool over you guys pics until I get mine done. I notice you both have different aftermarket models.
If I may ask what made you choose the model that you did.

Re: Aftermarket Navigation System installed in Escalade

damaster, I did a write up about how to put one in:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...rket-head.html (How to install a double DIN aftermarket head unit w/steering wheel controls)

I chose the one I did, because I'm partial to JVC. I like their design and interface. I usually end up going with a JVC for all my vehicles. That isn't to say anything bad about the other models though. I also looked on Crutchfield, and their expert reviewers gave it a really good review.
