    first true test

i'm giving my EXT it's first true test today. i'm leaving at noon for a 500 mile trip to myrtle beach SC with my gf. she's not looking forward to the ride, so we'll see how she feels after the trip in the caddy. i have the truck packed and i'm already overjoyed. i have all of my stuff and all of her stuff in the back and we still only filled up about half the truck bed. there's nothing on the backseats. and that includes two skim boards, a boogie board, and my golf clubs. i hated how my blazer was packed completely full with stuff on the backseat and the front seat. i'm expecting a smooth ride down 95 and hopefully i can keep those 350 hp under control through the 'communist' state of VA. you can't spit during that stretch of highway without hitting a cop.

T Dogg, you may have a problem. Once the gf rides that far in it, she may never want to ride in anything else.

Get a good radar detector like a V1 (fits perfect above the mirror) and you will have nothing to worry about.

So is speeding but everyone does it. If you buy a new Escort 8500 the cops cant detect you have a detector and if the come after you you just hide it in your console

V1 has the same thing so they can not be detected.

    Re: first true test

i have a cheap one i bought at sears that does the job. and when i'm in va i just put it on the center console. then they can't see it and if they are beside me stopped or something i can unplug it real quick and claim i just have it sitting there until i get through VA. it's a real pain in the ass and i wish my EXT had more 12v outlets so i didn't have to use the cigarette lighter. i hate having that cord going to the middle of the wood. makes it look cheap IMO.

yes, some of these radar detector dectors do work. But if you have a radar dectotor detector, whats not to say that the cop has a radar detector detector-detector......errr see what im saying

I would (speaking from experience) just go the speed limit through VA, the state troopers are NO FUN there.... I once got 4 tickets in a month and a half span in VA. Most of it was my own fault, but i think they were looking for me

In my previous Escalade I had the V1 hardwired. The big unit would be mounted above the rear view mirror and the stealth unit (a small unit that has the arrows,K/Ka/X/L LEDs that the main unit has) would be placed where there is an empty space above the Parktronic and Traction Control buttons are. Costed me $70 to hardwire at my car performance shop. I have yet to do this on my new Escalade just due to laziness, but soon will and will share pics when finished

I use a solo s2. It works on batteries and is pretty powerful. It also picks up less false alarms. But I do believe the valentine 1 is the best on the market, but when I bought it I just never liked using it. I believe the top three are the v1, the 8500, and then the solo s2. And also every girl thats been on a road trip with me in the truck says that nothing else is the same. ALso, T Dogg, my buddy in VA told me that many of the cops in your state love to hide out under bridges a lot. I heard here in cali, that if you find a cop hiding then you could use it against em.

I think the valentine 1's arrows are useless. If the radar detector goes off you are going to slow down regardless of where the cop is. You are paying a lot of money just for the arrows.

Yeah but you pay for information in this world. The direction helps me see where the cop is and allows me to judge how long i have to slow down. I love the V1 and recommend it to anyone!@

I have the Passport 8500 and haven't got a ticket yet. It doesn't mean anything to have a radar detector and not have any common sense. Most of the time if you use common sense and be more alert, than you can avoid getting those costly tickets and points.
