    3rd Brake Light not lighting

I checked some fuses under the hood and by the driver side door, but does anyone know specifically which fuse is responsible for the 3rd brake light? Or are these things known to go bad? Thanks.

Its made up of LED lighting, You'll need to replace the entire 3rd brake light if part or all of the bulbs have went out.

Not a single LED is working, that's why I wanted to check a fuse. Usual brake lights ARE working correctly.

Check your connections at the rear, does the rear wiper work ?

I had a 95 tahoe and the 3rd brake light and rear wiper didnt work, on the right hand pass side with the hatch up, there was a lil bunch of wires in black coating/heat tape, inside was the wires for both and over time they got pinched and broke 2-3 of them, fixed and wa-la had my 3rd brake light and rear wiper back...

    Something to check anyways.

If you checked all your fuses and things are good, I'm not sure, get a testing probe and a friend and try it out, if your other brake lights are working, then I doubt its the brake safety switch which is under/around the brake pedal area (is on normal cars anyways, not sure about these trucks)

I know they are expensive cuz my 3rd brake light got a nice piece of the lens broken off, I got a junkyard replacement for $100, a new one was over $300 bucks!

lift the hatch glass with the rear hatch door shut, there is 3 black screws/washers, undoing them removes the light with a light pry, have a friend hit the brake while you test the connect where the 3rd light plugs in.

Then if you got power, your light died, if you dont, well then you gotta dig further...

Re: 3rd Brake Light not lighting

Hello all! I am new to this site but I am glad that I found it! I am having the same problem with my car, I have an '04 esv, but my problem is that the garage door hit the top of my center brake light and cracked the casing. Sometimes the light comes on and sometimes it doesn't. I have been trying to find a used light but have had no luck. anyone else have any ideas?
    Thanks

Re: 3rd Brake Light not lighting

I just ordered mine from www.conquestauto.com

Conquest was 20something cheaper the gm parts direct and its an OEM light

GM part # for my 03 non esv is 15044516.

I have a 15098920 that I can sell, I think its for the EXT's though, same light almost but has 5 screws compared to my 3 for the escalade itself.

You guys should make sure you have power at the light before you start buying stuff; grab that test light and get crackin'!

Re: 3rd Brake Light not lighting

Well my light works, but my lens is all cracked so I know I needed to buy the light...

Just throwing options out there for the others..

Sounds like the one guy with the garage door damage like me needs a replacement himself.

As for nasty blac, he needs to check the power at the connector for the light.

Re: 3rd Brake Light not lighting

I'll check power tonight or very soon. Sounds like the cause might be the same - my rear door hits the garage door when I open it in the garage. I'm gentle when I open it, but my wife slams it open all the time....
