Headers and Exhaust for a 6.0L 03 Escalade

Remove this ad
So I bought my 03 Escalade..

LOVE IT!

I now would like to add some headers and cat-back exhaust.

What does everyone prefere?

I like borla but the price is kinda high compared to say magnaflow.

as for headers, I seen some on the arizona speed and marine website but also those "obx" ones on ebay..

Would really appreicate some advice from "seasoned" escalade owners with these mods done, I would also compliment with a Cold air Intake.

Are these things I should even do or let it be stock?

Thanks in advance...

Re: Headers and Exhaust for a 6.0L 03 Escalade

Whats up KrazyKeith! I say go for it! I have a Corsa Touring Exhaust system and a K&N CAI Generation II FIPK. Below is a video of the touring system, this was taken right after install, the sound is a lot more "throattier" now that its been on for a few months. You may want something louder, but for me the way mine is now is perfect.

That Corsa sounds pretty good ESCALADOR!!!

Thanks for sharing the clip.

The FIPK looks nice too!

I think I'm going to go for it.

Were you happy with the cat-back and CAI ?

What kinda power gains can one expect from a cat-back and CAI ?

Re: Headers and Exhaust for a 6.0L 03 Escalade

Thanks man. Another member here, Lu Scola has the Sport system installed on his Lade. Maybe he can throw his clip on here for comparison. There is a pretty big difference in the sound between the Touring and the Sport systems.

The companies claim all types of power gains and better gas mileage but I have not noticed anything. Maybe a little bit better acceleration but who knows. I didn't do any scientific before and after comparisons. I can tell you one thing, my gas mileage has gone DOWN since I have installed these, probably due to having a heavy foot because I like the sound too much! But with gas here in VA at $1.42/gal it is no Biggie.

Good luck with your decision!

Re: Headers and Exhaust for a 6.0L 03 Escalade

That corsa system sure sounds good! And from what I read on the forums here, not too much annoying inside the truck either. That's what I'm gonna get for my 02. I can't say for the 6.0 engine, but I installed headers on my 5.7 blazer. Did nothing for performance, it was a pita to retorque bolts every now and then, so I'm gonna leave the stockers on mine. I found out afterwards there's a bolt kit with locks to prevent this. It did look good tho (powdercoated model). CAI and corsa sport model will do it for now.

I agree, the headers seem more of a pain then anything, I can handle a catback and cai though!

Re: Headers and Exhaust for a 6.0L 03 Escalade

i put edelbrock Ti-Tech 65003 headers on my 03' ESV, look great, price is not bad, around $300 from Summit Racing. Installation took about 3.5 hours unlike what the directions state, made a little difference. I also have a magnaflow exhaust $580 and K&N FPK Air intake and BBK throttle body plus superchiped. if you add all this it makes a difference in performance. Just the headers or exhaust will show slight improvement, but it does sound great and has a nice rumble to it. For my 2 cents worth, do not buy any headers other than edelbrock for the Escalade, great fit, look great, low maintenance but watch the A/C condensor cover rumbing on the right side .

Re: Headers and Exhaust for a 6.0L 03 Escalade

I'm gonna throw some headers on my truck soon. Already took off the cats and that aloner gave it a throatier sound. If it's not too load after the headers i'm gonna replace the muffler. Just the muffler not a whole cat back. To me cat backs are a waste of $$$. The stock piping is pretty decent on these trucks and unless your making SERIOUS power i don't see the need to replace it. Good quality name brand replacemet muffler is about $100.
Oh and shorty headers are a WASTE of $$$ only go with long tubes. I like Pace Setters coated lonf tubes.
