    Musty A/C Smell HELP

As of the last couple days when i turn my a/c on it has started smelling musty and kinda odd. Have any of you run into this problem??? Please give me some suggestions. Also Do you think that it could be the Cabin filter? Does the 99 escalade have one and if so where is it located. Thank

I am not sure if it has a cabin filter. But, on my lexus that was the problem. Also condensation builtup in the intake tubes and grew mold or something. I used lysol with the heat on high to solve the latter problem.

    ???

Condensation does collect inside the box where the coil is, and mold or mildew can grow in there. Lysol might work if it's applied to the right place, but it's probably just covering the smell up.

You need to squirt some stuff into the intake that will eventually find the source of the problem and kill it. I've used this stuff in the past with really good results:

I think I have heard that the Clean Air stuff is available at some auto parts stores. Just not sure which ones.

There are other similar products that I'm certain would work just as well. Just remember that you're trying to kill the mildew, and in order for that to happen the product has to come in contact with the source. That's why they give you one of those WD-40 style straws to attach to the spray nozzle.

To properly apply it, you would crank up the A/C blower to high, and then spray it into the intake vents by the windshield. Enough of the mist should reach the source this way. You can also set your system to "re-circulate" and spray it into the intake vent under the dashboard. This would get rid of any cigarette smoke smell.

    Good luck!
