Hello! Ive read in this forums particularly if I am not mistaken in the STS forums, that one should not perform a transmission "flush". I dont recall the reasons for what they were against this procedure of preventive maintenance. I would like to know if they only referred to the STS, or any vehicle. If the tranny flush is not recomended then what is left to do, drop the tranny oil pan and change the tranny filter? I can imagine that the advantage of performing the tranny flush is that most or all of the used ATF will be removed and replaced by fresh ATF.
Any recomendations on performing preventive maintenance to the transmission will be appreciated, as well as reasons on why not to perform a tranny flush.

Re: Transmission Oil Change?
Daniel, I always change out all my fluids and replace them with synthetic, of course with Red Line sponsoring us for years and now Amsoil the price is right Not sure what the service manual says about trans service, when I get to the office I will check and post what they say
Replace automatic transmission fluid and filter is the vehicle is mainly drive under one or more of these conditions:
-In heavy city traffic where the outside temp regularly reaches 90 degrees of higher
-In hilly or mountanious terrain
-When doing frequent tralier towing
-Uses such as found in taxi, police, or delivering service. **If you do not use your vehicle under any of these conditions, change the fluid and filter after 100,000 miles.
that's cool. i work with computers and i'm trying to find a way to bring my computer background in to my love of cars. that way maybe i can find cheaper deals on parts and use my college degree at the same time. but it hasn't worked yet
