how do i find lightweight wheels?? from what everyone has been saying it's definitely an advantage to find lightweight wheels, but when i've been looking, i don't see any mention of weight. so what do i do to make sure i'm not stuck with big heavy wheels???
The best thing to do is to look for forged wheels. Forge wheels tend to be a lot lighter than regular wheels. But they do cost a lot more . GFG wheel company an affilate of Giovanna wheels makes some nice wheels.
With as much as the truck weighs, why go with light weight rims? Its not like its a race car where you have to worry about unsprung weight, i mean an esv is like what,, 6600 lbs? I will take "heavy" rims that can stand some abuse, as opposed to "light weight" rims that i would have to baby.
Remember though this is coming from a guy that wants 22' HRE 648s for his ESV.
i don't need 'light' i just don't want to go to heavy. i agree i wouldn't mind a beefy rim that can handle punishment, but i also don't want to have some of the problems people have talked about with having heavy rims. if i could find them around stock weight i'd be happy.
does anyone know the weight of stock? i don't know when i'll have a chance to weigh my rims, so if anyone already has their rims and tires of their truck and could weigh them real quick, that'd be great.
As mentioned above, the Weld EVO's are an excellent choice. Forged is the only way to go. My cast MB's are extremely heavy and I would never consider cast rims again, in my opinion form should follow function and most of the ultra pricey are nothing special.
