    sub placement

any ideas on a good clean place to put sub(s) on a 2002 EXT?? the only place i can think has enough room would under the center console. i've seen them in the midgate, i don't know how well that would work. i don't want to ruin the functionality of the truck.

you can buy a box that fits under the back seats. but you will only be able to fit one 10 depending on how big the cone is. i have an 03 ext and i am going to take out my mid-gate and have a custom built wall that holds 2 subs and my amp. but i am deployed to the middle east right now so it won't happen for about another month. when i get it done i will post some pics. i am either getting some jl audio w7's or kicker solo baric 12's

    Re: sub placement

thank you t-dogg8, the box is on ebay for about 80-90 dollars, and someone posted the link a few months ago on this site for the same topic. if i get the wall built i will loose the midgate function. that is the only thing that is holding me back from doing it. i want some beat, but i don't want to take anything away from my truck either. they also have powered subs(built in amp)made by infinity on cruthfield.com that would slide right under the back seats. they put out about 200 watts a piece. you could fit at least 2. but i have not heard how they sound.

Now granted it isnt an EXT however i thought it was a "tricky" place to install a 10' without losing any interior space.

has anyone every tried or had any experience with those infinity speakers?? i'm not giving up my midgate function just for beats. i'll find a way to have both

Not a great shot but you get the idea. Its vented through the "fake" sub port, as well as through the "junk" tray located above the driver rear wheel well.

    Re: sub placement

I have a really good idea for a sub box placement but haven't had the time or money to build it. If you are willing to lose the spare tire, one could build an enclosed enclosure which they would be ported underneath the rear seats. This would allow the vehicle to keep all its configurationable options, and be completely stealth...

    Re: sub placement

ok....i looked my truck at lunch and i don't think there's anyway to fit any speakers under the back seats when the midgate is open. so with that being said, has anyone with an EXT added any speakers and been able to keep their midgate function?

You could get 1 8" sub in each rear door. I wanted to get 2, but the way they designed it, won't allow for it.
