Safety / Performance with bigger rims

I was always under the impression that lower profile tires meant better cornering ability. On a TV show the other day a guy put new low profile tires on a car and told the driver that they would not be able to corner as fast, I assume because the tire would roll under??

Does anyone know what tire sizes are safe for the Escalade? I have 305/40/22's. If I crank around a corner am I risking rolling my tire off the rim?

    Thanks.

you should be ok unless you have to make a very hard turn at a high speed (ie swerving) you have about as small a profile tire i would buy. i mentioned on a couple other posts i had a friend roll his pathfinder. but i'm not sure what size sidewalls he had. i think they were smaller. you have about 5 inches of sidewall, so you should be ok.

do you have any pics?? that's the size i want to get.

I have 305/45/22 on my escalade, but its not the tire I would worry about while taking sharp turns.

Just the fact that its a truck and not a sports car... tires def have something to do with it, but its such a top heavy truck that if you are going that fast anyway, you could flip it with 22's or stock 17's... thats all

The dealer tells me I have some rubbing, but i dont really feel or hear it. I had the plastic in the wheel well cut when I got the wheels put on so. If you are going with 40's I wouldnt do Toyo (they have really soft side walls). I have kuhmo escata 45's and I love them. I had Toyos on my Navigator and had some problems.
