Since I'm home from college and driving my Escalade on a regular basis again I have noticed that the idle seems to surge in the 300-1000 rpm range in any gear. It has stalled a few time from this, and starts up again no problem. Also with the AC on/off, radio on/off, and headlights on/off the volt meter seems to bounce around the 14 mark way too much. When i was home about a month ago I had the battery replaced due to some corrosion on the postive terminal. I was wondering if while I was having some starting problems due to the battery if it could have effected the alternator. Just looking for some ideas before I bring it in for service. TIA
That's what I was thinking, gonna take a look at it tomorrow. This is gonna sound dumb, but the throttle bottle is what the intake connects to on the engine right? And if I clean it, use carb cleaner and an old toothbrush, right? Also do i need to disconnect the battery?
Well I cleaned the TB, and it idled great, outside of the service engine soon light being on. Called On-Star, they said it was the idle speed control. Take it to the dealership, they say its the MAF sensor and the TB needs to be cleaned. A few hours and $428.00 later, its running better than I've ever seen it. Thank God for warranties, cause i would not have been happy dropping 400 on a new MAF, though the 200 i had to put in still stings.
