Just wondering what size of bulb you guys are using, i see some websites call for a 880 bulb but i never heard of that. Any others that would work?

Thanks.

Re: 02 escalade fog light hid's

880 is the stock size bulb for those fogs, that would be the one you would use.

The 07' Escalade takes a 9145 bulb, that is close to the 9005, the 02' to 06' Escalade's take the 880 bulb which are much smaller in size.

Re: 02 escalade fog light hid's

To all of this let me say. I have put Xenons in my 2005 Escalade EXT fog lights. They are 6000K 35W Digital systems. It was not fun. The 880 bulbs fit the slot but were too long. They were hitting the metal guard inside the housing. I cracked open both lenses and ripped out the metal guards out and sealed them back up with Silicon II.

After running them for quite a while I found myself with sealing problems. (I didn't take enough time, and I think I was supposed to use aquarium glue) Water is getting into them and the bulb seems to be melting the housing a bit. I recently tapped a deer and my passenger side fog with the most water damage has failed.

I am currently trying to re-do the project with new fog lights, maybe new HIDs, and better successes.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
-Thanks, Craig

Exclamation Re: 02 escalade fog light hid's

Exactly, the 880 hid bulb is a bit long and it can come in contact with the metal reflector and short out. and you definitely don't want to open the housing and break the seal, you will regret it. what you want to do is get a nice firm hold on the housing, stick a flat head screwdriver inside the housing , you want to stick it in the corners or each of the two ends of the metal reflector, gently but firmly give it a few knocks with a small hammer, you want see one of the 3 metal teeth move forward on each side. it is important you knock them out the same amount to avoid light distribution problems .

I also used a screw driver to push the tabs out just a bit.

Re: 02 escalade fog light hid's

It would be nice to custom fabricate / mold some projection HID's from another car perhaps into the fog light cut-outs in the bumper - now that would be crazy cool!

Re: 02 escalade fog light hid's

I would love to have projector fog light, but it doesn't seem like it would be a whole lot of fun to make, considering the fun I already had with the stock fogs. Back to my project; I finally just ordered some new fog lights off ebay, they are replacement parts but not OEM and am going for some new HIDs aswell. If anyone that had an instant Plug-and-Play installation could tell me what type and where they got their HIDs from, I would be forever thankful. Any additional info would be appreciated.

Thanks again,

Craig
