| Buyer's Guide: Rims I think it would be a good idea to put together a list of everyone's experience with the different rim companies out there, both good and bad. There are tons of companies out there and it's hard to find reviews. I dropped a good amount of loot on what I thought was a good brand only to have headaches.
1. American Racing
I had 17" polished aluminum Snipers a couple years back on my Blazer. I shoulda went chrome and bigger, but this was before the rim craze. Can't complain about the rims, never had a problem in the 3 years I had them. I'd keep them on all winter and they would polish up like new.
Overall: Satisfied, no problems ever
2. Limited
I had 20" Limited 022 on my Altima. Decent brand (mid to low end) Awesome finish, the chrome really looked good. They would polish up really nice and last months. Super easy to clean and take care of.
I had them for about 1.5 years before they were stolen. Every rim got bent, then again I had them with 225/35/20 tires. I nicked a curb the 2nd day I had them and a piece of chrome chipped off, but it never got bigger and the layer under it looked pretty damn good.
Overall: Satisfied for what I paid. I really loved the rolling lip, it made them look like 22s. Awesome finish. Rims bent but didn't affect the drivability.
3. Zinik
I have/had 24" Zinik Blazers on my ext. I always wanted them since I saw them looking for parts for my Blazer on ebay. I narrowed it down to these and another rim that was half the price. I went with the higher quality name thinking I'd have less issues.
The chrome peeled in the 3 month. It was paper thin too, like gold flake material. The corners where the spokes meet the lip have the worst finish. It looks like polished aluminum. Some spots are very rough under the finish, like they didn't finish sanding smooth. It looks like the shiny finish rubbed off on some spots. I can't get them clean with just soap and water.
Overall: VERY dissatisfied. In the process of returning them now and hopefully going with a different brand. |
