Not trying to be a smart a$$ but do you have your owners manual? It's in there. I am going from memory on this, first you want to erase anything that is in there now, for that hold the 2 outside buttons on the trucks buttons for the opener for about 20 seconds until the light flashes quickly, then release, this will erase anything in memory. Next deceide what button you want to use, hold your garage door opener remote against the trucks buttons so you can still see the little red light, hold both buttons (the remote opener and your trucks button) until you see the little red light on the trucks buttons flash slowly then quickly, this can take a minute or two, when this happens release both buttons, it should be programmed. One note, some of the newer garage door openers use rolling codes for securty, if the above did not work ( i.e. the door will not work with the newly programmed truck button) then repeat the above, but after you release the buttons then you will have to push the button that will be located on your garage door opener, this is usually located on the main part of your garage opener itself.

I followed the rules so many times and couldnt get mine to work. I have a Genie door opener and I looked on the website and it did support the Intellicode. I looked for a button/switch on my garage door opener (the main engine) and couldnt find anything. Do I need to open the case to find this button?

It's usually under the light defuser, that is where mine was, not sure if we have Genie but I believe they are. Look in your garage door opener instruction book
