Reset oil life on '05 Escalade?

In typical GM service fashion, the dealership didn't reset my engine oil life monitor when they did the oil change two weeks ago. Can anyone tell me how to reset it?

With the key turned but not started, scroll thru your DIC until you see oil%, press the reset button for about 5 seconds, it will reset to 100%, that's it.

Re: Reset oil life on '05 Escalade?

If you have the steering wheel controls (which I am sure you do), do like hcv said using one of the buttons on the lower left spoke of the wheel.
I forget which one, when you see the oil life displayed on the DIC press the bottom button on the lower right spoke and hold it until the DIC displays "oil life reset" and then it should go back to 100%.

BTW, you CAN reset these with the engine running.
The older ones you could not.

Re: Reset oil life on '05 Escalade?

Thanks guys. I didn't try that because I figured it couldn't be just that simple, haha.

With my GTO you had to do some weird "pump the brakes" nonsense with the key in a certain position.

Re: Reset oil life on '05 Escalade?

Yeah, we have the same system with our '04 Suburban, and it actually works TWO ways. First is going through the DIC and holding down Select when you get to the Oil Life screen. The other way is just like done on models that didn't have the DIC, and on most older vehicles, which is key On, then gas pedal to the floor 3 times in 5 seconds. Both work, at least on ours, and both are in the manual (i.e., we were using the familiar gas pedal method for a while until I realized there was also the other way as noted in the manual in another section).

The gas pedal way seems to be the universal way across all the GM and even other makes of cars. Its how I do it.
