2000 Escalade "Chirp"

I've had my 2000 Escalade for almost 2 years now and I love it!! One question though. I've searched the forums and can't find an answer, I've asked the service advisors here at the dealership I work at, and can't seem to find an answer for my problem.

When I accelerate from stand still, the truck makes a sound like a car horn. It only does it on take off when the body kicks. Not shure if its a worn out bushing somewhere, or a bad shock or what. Any input would be appreciated!!

Hello !

You are not alone :-)
Mine '99 Lade do the same ;-)
I think it is some bushing or some other suspension part.
I replaced my shocks and it didn't helped.

Regards
Paul,

Re: 2000 Escalade "Chirp"

I noticed this exact sound when I test drove a 2000 Escalade today. Happens when you accelerate from stop. Sounds like you lightly tap the horn or a chirp.

Sounds like a rear drive shaft slip yoke. The shaft can be removed to lube the splines or to replace the yoke. The new one should also be lubed.

Re: 2000 Escalade "Chirp"

After some research, I figured it was the slip yoke too. I'm having the dealer do the repair ($288.) I'll know by Tuesday if that fixes the problem.

Re: 2000 Escalade "Chirp"

They quoted me $288. It's has to be the nickel-plated slip yoke.

I'll update this thread when I get mine replaced.

Re: 2000 Escalade "Chirp"

The nickel plated slip yoke fixed the chirp. The total price was $305.00.

Here's the bulletin...
