I hear the JL box is real nice, and sounds quality. But it takes away the storage spot for your window if you ever take in down. So i guess that depends on how much you take it down. I have no clue about price though. I am assuming that the JL Box is big dollars

The JL audio box is not bad... personally i think i am going with another company that does the midgate box.. looks pretty good setup... you lose the window storage but still have fold down option...

??? its a great setup but i dont think it could compare to the box from the website i listed.. you only get a certain mounting depth with the JL.. with the one i listed you can work with alot mroe subs

I agree with both of you.

Falkolade, I'm a JL person myself and will be until they do me wrong so i think your way. I also like the fact that the JL isn't as bulky as the custom box and you might be able to still used the bed relatively easily. (observation from picture comparisons)

CaddyKid, You are right in the respect of the mounting dept. All subs even JL require specific box measurements for optimum performance, the custom box looks like it will work better for most. Even though the JL box is designed and manufactured by them (probably not, probably make in Taiwan) i find it hard to believe that their w3 subs work best in that small amount of space. And on top of that its big money.

For me i don't need crazy perfect sound. I just want to still have the utility and get some extra bump. Still hard to try to pay the cash for the JL though

yea that JL is insane with prices.. the cheapest i found was like 950 but average was around 1100+... the sub box i posted is like 400 plus you purchase whatever subs you want so it comes out cheaper... i was gonna go with the midgate box but its still too much for me.. for 375 they have a underseat box with 2 10's including shipping which is not bad... idk if i want a whole midgate box... or if i even need it. im running stock speakers so the midgate box would probably be alot of bass for the stockers..

mtx makes sub boxes with the amp and the sub just dont know if they make it for the ext im sure that some other truck boxes would fit such as the avalanche or u could also go custom

The JL Audio Stealthbox that replaces the midgate is a great sounding system. However as stated earlier it's pretty expensive - around $1200. You also have to consider the rear depth of the box that protrudes into the bed of the truck. Your going to loose some bed space as well as window storage.

There are lots of good aftermarket products out there. I choose to go with a custom cabinet and 4 x 10” shallow mount subs powered with a 1000 watt amp. The cabinet was made by Woodlawn Cabinetry with shallow mount subs from Elemental designs.

go to a GOOD custom audio shop and ask them what they can do for you, they could probably custom make you a pretty nice one and still have alot of speaker options.
