Possible to add factory xm module to stock Bose on '05?

Remove this ad
I was using a delphi "myfi" in my old car and have moved it over to the 'lade, but I'd much prefer having it integrated into the head unit. I saw mention on another thread of the xm unit on our vehicles being mounted behind the glove box. Is it possible to get one of those modules, mount it in the proper place, and connect it somehow to the stock head unit?

Yes it's possible. That is what I did to my 03. Bought it off ebay and it works right through my Touchscreen NAV system. The hardest thing I had was runnning the ANT which I mounted in the rear. Go for it!

befor You spend any money, look inside of Your glove box for a sticker with many letters and numbers. If You'll find code U2K , then all Youu need to do is acrtivate XM tuner that lt's already installed., If You don't have U2K, I have a plug and Play solution for Your vehicle

Nope, U2J but no U2K.

This is the part where you tell me how to hook up my delphi and make it work through the head unit, right? haha

GM_Geek is the man. I bought my Touchscreen NAV from him back in 2005. Wish I would have known that before I bought mine on ebay.

XM kit that I was refering to will be hidden, and all XM info will be display and controlled through Your factory radio.

Tell me more! This is exactly what I want. My truck is starting to look like a cop car or a taxi-cab with all the extra crap strewn around the cab.

Just to be clear though, I don't have the factory nav, just the standard Bose headunit/tape deck.

We have a kit on our site that will work with your unit:

http://www.radiosandmore.com/prod_de...VR-D-001-GM100

It's plug and play, and works just like the OEM version.

So this is controlled by my stock Bose tape deck headunit?

As long as you have a "band" button, it is.

Re: Possible to add factory xm module to stock Bose on '05?

How do you change stations? What I mean is, if I want to listen to station 20, and the buttons on the head unit only go up to 6, does that mean I have to "seek" all the way down from, say, 74?

Re: Possible to add factory xm module to stock Bose on '05?

The best way to seek down if you don't have something close in your presets is to seek by genre. Say if you were on channel 150, and you wanted to go to a Country station, just select Country in the genre menu, and seek to that. It will automatically bring you to channel 10. Our kit works exactly the way the OEM kit does, so I believe your owners manual from the vehicle has the instructions in it as well. Call us if you have any questions.
