It's a winner for GM for sure. but it cost more then $18,000 in material cost to build an Escalade.

You should go back and read what I originally said,
I'm not talking about what they make at the end after marketing, tooling, payroll, buying viagra pills for retiree's and other expenses.
I'm talking about how much it cost to make it as parts put in together.

Total profit does not equal the MSRP minus the parts. That may be what is tripping you up. There are other expenses in delivering a product to an end user other then the cost of the parts. The parts alone are what we are looking at.

George probably hit the nail on the head saying 20k taxable profit.. If that much.

A big thank you to Cadillac Customer Care for reaching out to my dealer about this issue. The dealer is now completely replacing BOTH tail lights. Good to know GM will stand behind their products.

Re: 2015 Cadillac Escalade Rear Tail Light Edge Defect

Unfortunately the new tail lights they put on also have defects on the edges. It's better than the first ones, but still not great. This problem could be easily solved by using some rubber trim in-between the body and the tail light to cover that edge. I guess decent is as good as it gets until 2016 when they likely address this issue with a slight re-design of that area.
