Unfortunately orange peel is just an industry standard, I don't believe my 15 Escalade is any worse compared to other black OEM paint jobs I've seen. I just didn't notice it before. Once you do notice it it becomes hard to see anything else. Next time I'll get a lighter color.
I see a lot cars every week, never seen a Benz as bad as a Caddy in terms of orange peel. You can get your truck wet sanded and it will look 100 times better, maybe 1000 times better for probably under 1k.

Orange peel is not a defect. Almost all brand new cars today will have them. My Escalade had it, my 7-series has it, and my E-class does too. If you want to fix it, find a reputable detailer in your area. Do not have the dealer do it, as they will most likely burn off excess amounts of clear, and ruin your paint work.

i know you guys want no orange peel but you will know if the car has been repainted when it doesn't have the orange peel of some sort.

It really is a defect though, it's because they do not take the time and sand after clear coating, of course they could make it worse too.

Re: 2014 Escalade versus 2015 Escalade...Not Even in the Same League!!!

I called a local body shop as recommended, they aren't willing to touch it. He said if he burnt through the clear coat he'd end up having to repaint the vehicle for free. He recommended returning the vehicle to GM. I'm not sure that is possible. So a 3rd party won't touch it, and you guys don't recommend having the dealer fix it. What's left?

Also check out the other issue I'm having: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ven-clear.html

Look up body shops and detail shops, talk to local car clubs to see who is best, it can be done without harming the clear, have done it to many cars/trucks I have owned

Re: 2014 Escalade versus 2015 Escalade...Not Even in the Same League!!!

I have had the following year Escalades:

    2005
    2007
    2009
2009 as first 2009 Escalade was bought back due to several issues
    2010
    2011 ESV
    2012 Hybrid
    2013 ESV Premium

After seeing the new 2015 Escalade in person (haven't driven it yet) I can't wait to get one. We have a 2015 on order, but we may hold off and wait until GM makes all the equipment changes, updates and resolves any and all issues pertaining to first year vehicle launches. I took a picture of the 2014 and 2015 model year Escalades side by side and the 2015 makes the 2014 model look old, ugly and dated.

It just needs some chrome mesh behind the grill, I am sure the new platinum will take care of that issue

I am surprised we haven't seen any platinum specs as of yet. Maybe it won't be out until the 2016 model year which is in exactly a year from now. It will be at least $100K and for no reason. The platinum 2014 Escalade has equipment that all 2014 Escalades should have. Not sure why GM charges $10K extra for items that should be standard in all Escalade models. We have a Premium and the Platinum options were pointless to me.

I know there are issues right now with the 15 Escalade (most minor) but............. it really is a step up from the last generation. Once you spend some time with the new Escalade you will not want to go back to the old one. No matter what the reason is behind the purchase of an Escalade (part of it is always making a statement) the 15 notches it up a level.

I couldn't agree more. I too compared a 2014 Platinum Escalade and 2015 Premium side-by-side and IMHO--I'll say it again--they are not even in the same league. The 2015 seems modern, clean, filled with the latest tecchnology, and elegant. The interior is beautiful and modern. The displays in the 2015 for guages and in the center console look as they should in a luxury vehicle--sharp, extremely well made, and stylishly integrated with the interior. In Escalades prior to 2015, no matter what trim level, IMHO the displays and controls looked like generic truck components--completely out of place in a luxury vehicle.

But, what I love most on the 2015 Escalade...those beautiful LED headlights! Truly a work of art! And the brightest most precise headlights I have ever enjoyed on a vehicle.

I think Cadillac hit a home run with this vehicle. Your picture above illustrates this beautifully

Well I would hardly say it makes the previous generation look "old and ugly". Some would say the exterior of the 2015 looks like a Ford Flex took a bath in some Androgel and came out as the new Escalade. .

ok now take it next to a prior gen platinum, the front on the platinum looks a lot nicer than the lower trims. I agree the front end on the 15 is awesome, but that is the only angle that is significantly better, from the side and back I still prefer the old one.

2012 is not faster than a 2015. 2015s have different throttle settings so you have to give them more gas. foot to the floor the 2015 will be faster.

    GM4LIFE,
What is the lease penalty for turning in a vehicle early on a 3 year lease, exchanging for another lease? Most of the time you had one for 2 years. I am assuming you lease.
I was expecting everything to be on my Cadi. My order is for a Premium. I tried to get Platinum but it was not an option.
When I was looking at a two year lease vs a three year, the cost was $5K more, so I chose 3 yr.
