    April Sales 61

61 in April, bringing ytd to 241, and total sales to 247, counting the 6 sold in December.

Meanwhile, we have 1460 listed just on cars, and a build count of at least 2084.

At the current rate, come 2015-model-year-time, Cadillac will have sold only about a quarter or so of 2014 production...

    Re: April Sales 61

Look no farther than recent comments from executives like Mark Reuss and Uwe Ellinghaus to see why Cadillac is failing to sell this car. They're utterly clueless. First an insulting ad during the Olympics, then Reuss says he doesn't care if people think the ELR is too expensive, then Ellinghaus says 'tree huggers' don't buy expensive cars.

So Cadillac's strategy is "(1) Caricature your potential customers in the most demeaning way possible, (2) Ignore customers' concerns about the high price, and then (3) Insult your target customer by calling them cheap." No wonder these "overworked miserly tree huggers" are buying $90k Teslas instead.

Where's the slick ad campaign showcasing the car's futuristic looks and technology? Where does Cadillac even mention that the ELR is an electric PHEV? There's no attempt to create desire or position the car as a status symbol (aside from the ad insulting France and China). Ridiculous.

That poolside ad was great and the only good thing those executives green lighted. That said. The ELR should never have been built. Cadillac should have used those dollars towards the new flagship IMHO.

All they have to do is to cut the price and the vehicle will sell! Of course, adding a few more exterior and interior colors (including a White Diamond option) would help, too!

If those Execs really said those things then tomorrow I'm selling my GM stock. No future for an automaker thinking like that. And yes, if priced properly these cars would all be sold.

Test drove a White Diamond ELR. It was the Saks Fifth Avenue Edition.

Certainly wouldn't pay extra for the special edition. As far as the ELR itself, it is nice and quiet car. If I had the money, it would be a good second car. BUT, for the price it could still use improvement. Blind spot as an option? No passenger memory seat? No one button rear entry (which should be mandatory in this and the CTS coupe). In other words, people complain about the price but you get so much more. Well, for this price, I should want for nothing when it comes to luxury features. I would already be sacrificing significant performance, and the fuel savings are nice but could be better. For all these reasons and more that's why I say it would be a great second car that I would enjoy, because it looks great and rides great. Just wish GM hadn't not only priced too high but skimped in the process.
