Does your ELR refuse to forget Artists & Albums on your media device?

When I first plugged in my iPod Classic to the USB port two months ago, it had over 4,000 tracks on it. The car populated those all correctly and things worked fine.

Yesterday, I removed all but 100 tracks from my iPod and plugged it back into the ELR's USB port. While the C.U.E. System properly lists all individual songs on the iPod (Audio --> Media --> Browse --> Songs) and the correct Playlists (Browse --> Playlists), it's still holding on to the plethora of Albums and Artists that used to be on the iPod (Browse --> Albums and Browse --> Artists).

Does anyone know how to force the ELR's C.U.E. System to re-scan my iPod and remove all those extraneous albums and artists that have no content? Does this problem happen on other Cadillacs with C.U.E.?

This is crazy that the ELR refuses to remove from its memory the 2,000+ albums and artists that are no longer on my device! I've never had this problem before with a car and an iPod.

After changing the songs on the iPod again, restarting the car with no iPod connected, and then plugging in my iPod, the system finally reset and populated everything properly with only the 100 songs on the device. Not sure what step of the process forced the car to remove all the old data from its memory, but at least it finally cleared.

Also, I changed every "sort" field in iTunes to exclude the initial articles ("The," "An," and "A") for Songs, Albums, and Artists. The first time I connected my iPod, everything was still sorted incorrectly (with everything starting with "The" being sorted together); but once I got the ELR to clear its memory of all the old tracks, it began alphabetically sorting all tracks by the sort field.

Soooo... PROBLEMS SOLVED. Too bad I don't know how I solved them!

I'm soooo confused! Got back in my car this morning, and all those extraneous Albums and Artists were back. What the heck? This C.U.E. system is a very strange and inconsistent beast!

Blast: see my post on the other thread concerning my other problem with the Cue system. No answer for your issue but, when it happened to me, I noticed that after multiple on and off's of the car the system finally reset the Cue with the new songs on my flash drive...and the memory had evacuated the old songs. I wish I could tell you how many times it took but I did end up not using any external drive source for about 2 weeks or so.
