Thumbs up ELR software update PI1126B for cars build prior to February

My dealership service department representative told me that anyone with an ELR built before February has a software update available, announced in technical service bulletin PI1126B. So if you're having any issues with the C.U.E. system or the ELR's HIM (human interface module) in general, this may address them. It's not a recall; just an incremental improvement to the software that corrects some early bugs. Probably good to do in conjunction with your first tire rotation (if you can wait that long).

ELR recall for faulty stability control software

    Cadillac announced a recall today:

    http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...ntrol-software

It's because the car is partially out of compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems" because the car’s electronic stability control (ESC) system may inhibit certain ESC diagnostics, which in turn may cause the system to fail in alerting the driver when the ESC is either partially or fully disabled.

So nothing dangerously wrong with the car, other than it might not tell you when stability control is disabled.

This recall update doesn't apply to ELRs with the Adaptive Cruise Control package, according to my dealership.

    Good Morning Blastphemy,

Thank you for sharing info on the recall for the Cadillac ELR. I would like to add some additional information.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will recalibrate the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), free of charge.
The recall is expected to begin on April 17, 2014.
Owners may contact the Cadillac Concierges at 1-855-422-3357.

General Motors is recalling certain model year 2014 Cadillac ELR vehicles not equipped with adaptive cruise control and manufactured September 26, 2013, through February 14, 2014, and equipped without adaptive cruise control. In these vehicles, the electronic stability control (ESC) system software may inhibit certain ESC diagnostics, preventing the system from alerting the driver that the ESC system is partially or fully disabled. As such, these vehicles fail to conform with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems".

If you or any Cadillac ELR Owner have any questions please contact the Concierges at 1-855-422-3357.

    Thank you,

    -Ian Cadillac ELR Concierge
