jc: As I am sure you know, tracing down an electrical issue in cars these days is difficult at best. And when you add in the fact that the ELR is a EREV it seems to me it would be that much more difficult unless it is something simple. Living in LA I cannot imagine that you would not be able to find competent mechanic help and someone that would tell you whether or not you should take the issue higher with Cadillac. I am not much of a "bitcher" when it comes to cars but that kind of activity in an EREV just introduced would certainly get me moving to make sure that Cadillac jumps in with both feet. There are not many of these cars out there and the dealer has to be willing to spend the time and money to train someone, that has generally been working on combustion engines, to now work the ELR engine/generator setup. I know that my dealer is putting in a ton of effort to make sure any ELR owners are taken care of and, with a recent issue I had, they brought Cadillac in extremely fast.

Wow - that sucks. So sorry to hear your car has had such problems right out the door. I guess I should be grateful the only issues I've seen are mostly with C.U.E.

I hope you at least got an ELR or XTS for a loaner.

I just have to say; I blew a nut off looking at that beautiful car! The ELR and the CTS-V Coupe are my favorite Cadillac's hands down.

Re: Side View Mirrors as Charge Indicators

It's now the weekend and I've been without my brand new ELR since Wednesday. The dealer claims to have gotten the part, but now cannot give me an ETA on when they'll be done. He says they're closed for the weekend and won't be able to continue the repair until Monday. So much for a "Halo" vehicle. If this is all Cadillac has to offer, I'm sticking to German or maybe Tesla next go around. I am so frustrated with the fact that an $80,000+ car breaks down within days - unbelievable!! Cadillac better step up and provide some sort of significant compensation for this massive headache! They did give me a loaner, an ATS, which is a nice car, but certainly no ELR!!! I hope no one else on here or any other owner is going through what I'm experiencing. Now I'm going to focus on enjoying my weekend with my wife and bury this deep in my mind until Monday! Have a good one all...

Just today...on the way to the Stars/Senators game I got a message on the center stack screen that read "Service Rear View System". Will let the dealer look at it on Monday...

    cstegall,

Sorry to read of your concerns, but great to see you'll be seeking an official GM diagnosis. Please keep us posted on the process and don't hesitate to contact us with any additional questions.

I had the same error message on February 27th. It was the only time it happened, and I've had no problems since.

Blast: I recall the Twilight Zone episode where Captain Kirk is flying coach this time and spies a gremlin on the wing of an airplane taking the engine apart...when the notice came up on my center stack I also got a call from Onstar saying that my account had a problem! I called Onstar and there was no problem and they did not even recognize the call was made to the car. Coincidence? Probably...but still "Zone" worthy.

I think the error was the car trying to tell me that it apologizes for the reverse camera image being so awful at night!

If your car was built before February, make sure the service department updates your software while they're at it:

Note - my service department representative tells me that the software update also addresses the 'Service Rear Vision System' error.

Re: Side View Mirrors as Charge Indicators

Finally got my car back today. The indicator is still not lighting up. I called my sales guy and he keeps telling me this is normal. He promised to check in with his tech...claiming that certain production runs are only designed to light up the passenger side. I don't know what to do at this point - any suggestions? The concierge folks don't seemed to be empowered to do much. Thanks in advance for any ideas...

Don't know if Ian (CadillacELRConciere) could help, but you could try sending him a private message:

Your salesperson is wrong that only one indicator lighting up while charging is "normal."
