    "Lifestyle" car

This may read silly, but as we're approaching retirement we're considering a 'lifestyle' car, i.e. one that is not just purely functional.
(We've owned plenty of minivans, station wagons and suv's...) OTOH, since I've been driving VW TDIs that typically get +50 mpg, I'm
used to great mileage. The two cars that interest us are the upcoming ELR and the BMW Z4. Both appeal to us emotionally, they're
~in the same price range and, at least for us, they're in the same category. I know they're two completely different types of vehicle but, can you see how they're also similar?
