    The lessee (you) can't claim the $7,500 tax credit, only the lessor (finance company) can. That doesn't preclude the lessor from passing on some or all of the $7,500 to the lessee (which is what Ally Bank does for the Volt to bring the lease payments down), but it's not a guarantee.

    A production-ready ELR made its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. GM announced that its Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant will start making the car toward the end of calendar-2013.

    I was wondering the same thing regarding the credit. Thanks for clearing it up. Good thing to have "an ace in the pocket" if the numbers work out on the car when they're released and it comes time to negotiate. Thanks again.

    The press release said the only colors will be black, gray like the show car, silver and red. Perhaps they'll add more in later years.I hope they eventually sell a conventionally powered one for a lot less, but I doubt it will happen.
