    2006 DTS Tire Pressure

I'm new to this forum and you guys are a wealth of information, thank you. I traded off my Corvette and now I have a 2006 DTS Lux and I can't find the correct tire pressure anywhere. It has the 17" wheels. Can anyone help please. Is there anything else I should know about tire rotation etc? Thanks for the help

You don't have a decal on one of your front doors? Should be on the driver door. If not it may be in the owners manual.

Can always go by what it says on the tires.
I always find that to be the best bet. Bout 5lbs under is good

The max tire pressure is 30 on the door post on my 06 DTS III , it is 44 lbs (max for these tires) on the tires. All pressures are stated cold. The pressure does go up quite a lot with the hot weather. I don’t know if you have the tire pressure monitors. During the hot weather the pressure has gone up from 35 where I had it and the computer continuously flashes and makes noises. I lowered the pressure to 33 and it seems better, it quit flashing and making noises. We can not put more than 33 in the hot weather, the computer flashes and beeps. For me, I could do without the sensors, the tires get checked about every 30 days. The pressure was up around 38 when all the flashing was going on. The biggest benefit for me is to let me know if a tire is going flat. Now the weather is much cooler and I will try 35. The car has 5000 miles on it now and we should be able to get a better idea how the tires are wearing. My main concern is tire ware and safety. We had an Oldsmobile Aurora, the tires wore best at 44 lbs., that was the max on the tire. WPS

Thanks for the responses. After checking inside the door and reading thru the owners manual several times looking for the answer, I finally called the local dealership and asked. They informed me to try and keep them at 32-33 lbs. Seems to be working fine, at least I stopped getting the tire pressure alarms. Thanks again to everyone.

    Re: 2006 DTS Tire Pressure

As to pressure varying with the weather, I've experienced it both ways. I usually keep mine at the recommended 30 psi, but had high pressure alarms after 6 hours driving at 85+F, I just let some air out and it went away.

However in winter there can be quite a drop. Routinely, when the temperature drops to about 20F or lower, the pressure goes down to 24 psi when parked. I get the warning, but after about 10 miles on the freeway the pressure comes right back up again.

This winter will be interesting. I had new tires put on by Costco (wow, what a saving!) and they fill the tires with nitrogen instead of air. One of their claims is better pressure stability with varying temperatures, so I'll see if their nitrogen drops as much when it gets well below freezing.
