2006 DTS Performance Service Multiple Systems

I have a 2006 DTS performance that is giving me some fits. When I fired up the car this week, the following messages appeared on the dash. Parking assist off, service stabilitrak, service traction control, and the CEL and stabilitrak lights illuminated. I turned the car off, waited, and re-fired. Lights are gone, so I try to put the car in gear. Now the door locks start cycling, the digital speedo goes to bars, the PRNDL indicator light goes off and engine begins to surge. As the battery was four years old, I decided to replace it. No dice. Fired the car back up and same symptoms arise. On a whim, I pulled the car into reverse and things settled down. I then cycled the ignition and CEL and stabilitrak lights go off and all seems well. Pull car out of garage and back in and then all symptoms came back, this time with a vengeance! Now the PRNDL indicator bar no longer lights up and when I shift into gear, the shift is much harder than normal. When I am in reverse, I hear a strange whirring sound to boot. Has anyone been here before? Any thoughts?

There is a way to REBOOT all of the electronic modules in the entire car.
Sometimes (lots of times) that will fix random electrical gremlins.

Remove BOTH battery cables... negative cable FIRST...
Touch both cables together for 5 seconds or so, making sure they have good contact with each other.
This will drain all the capacitors in the system.

While you have the cables off... undo the one bolted to the floor.
Take a little piece of sandpaper and sand the paint away from the attachment point.
It will then have a better ground.

Re-attach the battery cables... negative cable LAST...
You will have to do the window EXPRESS UP learn again and you MAY have to do the memory seat settings again.
Sometimes they will forget the seat settings and sometimes they don't.

Thanks Jim. Clean ground and performed reboot. Same issues. Now the digital speedometer displays only three bars, no numbers. Bar under PRNDL indicator is still out as well. Car goes into gear hard both in reverse and drive. DIC still shows parking assist off, service stabiltrak, and service traction control. Any other thoughts?

You need to find a shop that has a TECH 2 and have ALL the codes read....
Write them down and then post them here.
The codes will tell what is wrong with it and give you a good direction on how to proceed...

Just a tad. Have you seen issues like this before? I am just about ready to call the dealer tomorrow...

Bad battery. Weak alternator. Sounds like a charging or wiring issue to me.

The mystery has been solved. I threw in the towel and took it to the man. With a quick hook to the TECH 2, the technician found i had no communication with the transmission control module. He replaced the TCM and my car is happy once again. Thanks for all the help. This forum has, and continues to be, a great asset to Cadillac owners.

The TCM is under the hood, on the firewall, right in front of the driver.
    These are my spares...
The Transmission Control Module is the one on the right... the one on the left is the Engine Control Module.

    Glad you got it fixed...
    I am gonna remember that.
