    Whats wrong with 2006 DTS's?

Helo all, I was just wondering if someone can help me understand something. I am thinking of getting a 2006 DTS and was wondering why consumer reports rated that year in particular as a car to avoid. What is different from that car then say an 07, 08 or 09? Has it been the opinion of you guys that any particular year DTS from 06-12 is any more reliable or unreliable than another? Thanks for any opinions or feedback..

In my opinion first year of any body style typically has more issues than the latter years in the body

Yes I can rock with that, but my next question would be what were the known "bugs" in an 06 DTS and were things done to get rid of them by 07? I only ask these questions because I see some really great deals on 06's..But I dont wanna buy a lemon either..

Headlights, oil leaks, crossover pipe leaks. Get a warranty.

Re: Whats wrong with 2006 DTS's?

I just bought a 2006, and my insurance agent's husband works for a Cadillac dealer nearby, and he drives a 2006 DTS as well. Why? Because according to him, 2006 DTSs are renowned for not having issues. Everyone has their opinion... so far the only issue I've had with mine has been crashing it.

The '06 has the same headlights as the '07, and they are HID lights.

Consumer reports has become a joke, don't worry about their ratings.

'06's ARE the most likely to have issues, they're the oldest...

I think the ballast on the 2006/2007 are made in France and the 2008 and up are from Germany, my 2008 say made in Germany and have never flickered.

Do yourself a favor! Get something else! Too hard to work on and to expensive. Absolutely NOTHING is easy to do on this car...just isn't worth the hassle!

Re: Whats wrong with 2006 DTS's?

Well, C.R. as usual is full of Sh--t !!! I have had a 2006 DTS from the day it was born and it has essentially been trouble free. Anything that needed repair was handled under warranty. The only thing I have had to pay for was a new set of shocks at about 100,000mi. I did not replace the Cadillac shocks because they were too expensive but used KYB shocks that married up to the Cadillac air suspension perfectly. Other than that its only been oil changes and all fluids changed at about 60,000mi. The car has 115000.mi on it and I expect to put ANOTHER 115000mi on it. Good luck. Henry Brigham Rockport, Texas

Re: Whats wrong with 2006 DTS's?

I have a 2006 Performance Sedan that I bought brand new.
It now has a little over 138,000 miles on it.
It had a few issues when it was new, but it was all fixed under warranty.
The last several years, it has been trouble free.
