    Renewed OnStar

I spoke to the onstar reps tonight and they put me through to the Cadillac Loyalty department where I spoke to a very friendly lady. She noted my free trial didn't expire until March 1st and I told her I was being proactive as I know sometimes they run reals. She looked at some different options and said the best they could do was $169 for the Safe and Sound package. I really wanted to keep the directions and connections for the summer to really get a chance to try it out and I mentioned it but I wasn't comfortable with $269 which I think is a tad over priced. She came back with another offer of $169 for a year of Safe and Sound plus 6 months of Directions and Connections or 100 Minutes free. She said the plan wouldn't start until March 1st, so I'd have free D&C from March 1 to Sept 1. I thought that was a pretty good deal so I bit. Has anyone else renewed as of late or been offered a better deal?

    -Justin

That sounds like a good deal to me...
I have an '06... the '07 and newer is cheaper than the '06.
The "STANDARD" price for '07 and newer is $199 for Safe and Sound and $299 for Directions & Connections...
For the '06 it is $299 and $399...

Wow Jim that's quite the difference. I wonder why they charge more? Was it always this way? I wonder if my 07 will bump up in price with age :-/ then it would be time to upgrade to the 2011 lux III that I want to one day replace this with :-)

On the 2007 and newer, directions can be downloaded straight to your NAV system and it will then talk to you and tell you how to get to where you want to go.
On the 2006 and older, the person that answers the phone, has to spend a lot more time with you, actually telling you how to get to where you are going.

Or at least that's what they told me the last time I renewed mine.

I just did the $169 for the Safe & Sound. That is currently the lowest price. You add your State tax and it comes up to $180+ for me.
I also have the car phone activated and get that cheaper than most. That's a monthly charge w/tax runs $17+/month.

It would be cheaper to get a 'tablet' which will give you Satellite view, which is better than the cartoon on the Nav.
I'm surprised that the Nav systems are not upgraded to satellite views. I guess the new cars have that ability with internet connectivity.

Any ideas on how to save on buying minutes on OnStar? Mine run out next week, and we are giving back almost 200 unused minutes. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

    Hi Kent,

Not exactly sure what you are asking. Do you want to purchase more minutes to get them to roll them over? Do you plan to keep onstar active? Just making sure you know that you need to keep onstar to keep your minutes. I have a number to the Onstar Cadillac Loyalty division that I'll send you in a private message, not sure if I'm supposed to post their number on the web.

    Cheers!
    -Justin

Kent, I tried to private message you but your inbox is full so it won't let me send it. Clear out a few messages and let me know and I'll try it again :-)
