    Common oil leaks?

I'm looking at an '07 right now that I'm kinda debating on, and it seems to have a leak. It only has 58,200 miles on it and the owner of the lot bought the car through an auction locally. When I test drove it I noticed the smell of burning oil faintly. When I asked him about it he said the car had been "recently serviced" at the local Cadillac dealer and the he drove the car personally for two weeks and never saw any spots on his driveway. Since I have the VIN I called the dealer and was informed by the service department that the only time they have record of the car being there was in December for an inspection and a recall to be taken care of, that no work other than disconnecting the windshield washer heater was done. So I don't know where the leak is, if it has been fixed, or how bad it is or isn't. What should I be on the lookout for if I bite the bullet?

That could be a spill when in doubt have it checked out. Better safe than sorry, unless it's an unbelievable deal there many to choose from. Don't think you have to. Buy that one unless there's a magic lamp in back seat

    May be nothing,

Well, first off the guy lied to you when he said it had been serviced by the dealer. Nuff said.

RIGHT... he has started out lying to you...
I wouldn't buy it just because of that.
No telling what OTHER lies he will tell you...

If you are going to ignore the answers why ask the questions?
Keep up posted on how it works out. I hope it's one of the cheap leaks to fix for you. Maybe you can get the lot to commit to fixing the leak.

I'm not buying it. Sorry, my phone skipped a word apparently. The whole situation leaves too many questions. I don't know if he lied deliberately or just didn't know the answers so he took a stab at it or what. Cause he also said he THINKS its a one owner car. If so why isn't it on a Cadillac dealer's lot for sale, and why no history on it?
