    Navigation and Tinted Windows

Those of you who have the built in NAV system, do you have tinted windows and does it interfere with the GPS signal? Reason that I am asking is that the NAV instruction book says "do not tint your windows" as it could interfere with the NAV system in getting a good GPS signal. Is this true, any one experience this? I really wanted to tint my windows come spring to 35% all the way around (which is legal here). My Garmin in my old 99 Concours never had an issue with this, and I had dark tint (35%) on that. Thanks!

One caveat about tinting... DO NOT USE metallic tint...
I have NAV and tint... 25% on front side windows, 20% on rear side windows and 10% on rear window.
Never had an issue with the NAV not working properly.

You can't tint the front window and the GPS get's it's signal from the front windshield. Impossible to interfere with it because the front window won't be tinted.

Ceramic based tint is a higher quality and better heat reduction film which doesn't cause any interference to electronic devices (including GPS).

That being said, I've only been able to use metallic based tint in the 4 cars I've had with tint (With 3 of them having the full windshield tinted) due to the person not offering ceramic for the most recent 2 of them and the other 2 I hadn't even heard of it.

I've only seen the tint interfere with AM radio reception. And in the STS I have now it seems to have improved the GPS reliability as it used to show the GPS with a line through it about 65% of the time now it's maybe 30% of the time.

I have a 2008 DTS with built in NAV. Had my windows tinted a few weeks ago and have not had any problems. I have 35 on front two windows and 20 on back three windows.
