Hot Smell When Heated Seats are ON

I am new to this forum, but have been reading it a lot lately... My wife and I only drive Cadillacs and as of late have been having NOTHING BUT TROUBLE!! We just purchased a 2006 DTS that she drives to work and have had one thing after another with it (70K Mile Car.) The latest is that the passenger seat started smoking and the heated seats quit working. I have read on this forum about the CCSM (Climate Controlled Seat Module) which is what my dealer is telling me it is. Have a lot of you had this issue - shouldn't Cadillac do something about this if it is such a fire hazard?? Also been having a lot of issues with flickering headlamps... I truly think this will be the last late model Cadillac that we will own which is sad...

A seven year old car with issues. Imagine that.

Who said anything about a fire hazard??

Flickering headlights? As in continuously turning on and off? One or both?

Your car is now EIGHT YEARS OLD...
Anything mechanical needs some routine maintenance every once in a while.

The seat issue is discussed at length in other threads.
It is a fairly easy fix that you can do yourself, if you are somewhat mechanically inclined.
The flickering lights are either ballast or bulbs...
Again discussed at length in other threads and again, you can fix it yourself, if you are somewhat mechanically inclined.

Yes, the connector under the passenger seat is melting, I wouldn't use the heated seats until you get that fixed. I had mine done at the Cadillac Dealer today for 277 bucks all in. I didn't need the module, just the connector replaced. Headlight flickering is indicating that the bulbs are failing. Replace those soon and the ballast/ ignitor should be OK.
