    Emergency Brake Issue

    Greetings!

I had an issue with my emergency brake today. Usually I press the brake (located on the left side of the brake) and hear/feel 2-3 clicks before depressing my foot. I always hit the brake before using the emergency brake. I should also note that I use the emergency brake often because where I live there are hills and if I don't use it, the car will lunge forward upon releasing my foot from the brake while putting it in park.

Anyway tonight I did the same procedure and when I heard the third click, the emergency brake pedal went all the way down to the floor. The light lit up as normal on the dash, but it felt weird at the third click and also looked weird.

I ended up pressing it again and it went back to the normal (non emergency brake position) but this has me worried.

Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, what was your outcome? (e.g. broken pedal). If not, any speculations?

As always thank you in advance for any insight.

    Hello Caddilack,

I apologize that you experienced this concern with your DTS’ emergency brake the other day. I do see that you were reaching out to the community regarding their experiences. If you were planning on taking your DTS into a Cadillac dealership to look further into this concern, I would be more than happy to assist you in setting up an appointment and working with the dealership. Please feel free to reach out to me via private message if you would like my assistance.
