3000 Mile Trip... DTS Was Flawless

Left for Toronto Ohio to visit my Nephew and his family last week.
    Returned home last night.

Covered about 3000 miles... DTS ran great with absolutely no issues...
Mileage varied from around 20.5 to about 23.5.

Sitting here now, being thankful that I didn't get a ticket yesterday....
Yesterday we covered the last 900 miles back home at a pretty good clip... LOL

AVERAGED just a hair over 80 mph from Louisville Kentucky to Fort Worth TX....

80 average -----That's pickin' 'em up and puttin' 'em down ..........

Now would be a perfect time to do the oil and filter - the inside of that engine is scrubbed clean as a whistle.

Yeah... we came on across the country... LOL

Very good idea on changing the oil.... I hadn't thought of that...
The oil was changed just before I left.. so if I change it again, all the gunk that was in it (if any) will be drained out.

Yep - cheap long-term insurance. I try to do the car and trucks after long highway runs.

You probably didn't use any oil on the trip, either. I can do the 1600 miles round trip to a daughter's and back and the level doesn't drop even a hair.

Right... it doesn't use hardly any oil.
Maybe a little over a cup full in 6000 to 7000 miles... then it gets changed.
That's at about 40% on the OLM.
I never let it go longer than that.

    Hey Jim;

I'm really surprised that you did not get a ticket with just a hair over 80 mph. You must have a radar detector or must not have traveled thru Arkansas. Here you always get a ticket when traveling over 75 mph. I try to stay below 72 mph when traveling on I-40.

I didn't know you were in Arkansas.... I have two brothers that live at Russellville.
I do have a good Radar detector and the "hair over 80" was my overall average for the entire 900 miles... including one stop for food and two stops for fuel.
Except for the construction between Forrest City and Memphis and the traffic around the West side of Little Rock... most of I-40 was at 90 to 110.
I got off of I-40 at the 247 exit and ran on Old Hwy 70 down to Forrest City and then got back on I-40.
Wasn't hardly any traffic on Hwy 70, but it was kinda rough.
You miss all the construction, one lane traffic and sitting stopped for a half hour on I-40.
