Drivers Seat wont' budge, motor works

Hi guys. Long time lurker, first time poster. I've searched and didn't seem to find anyone with a similar issue.

I just picked this 06 DTS up from a used car dealer yesterday. I knew the seat had issues because it barely went back when I test drove it. Nevertheless I got it where It was comfortable for me and figured I'd address it later. Unfortunately, I took it to the car wash and vertically challenged gal moved the seat all the way up, and I can NOT move it back!

The seat itself is cocked on the frame rails, the left side seems slide fairly easy but right side not budging. I found set of keys jammed down there and thought I had it, but no dice :=(

Dealer's closed till Monday and is far from where I live. Is there anything I can do? I'm 6'3" and look ridiculous hugging the steering wheel!

    Hello Black Dawg,

Congratulations on your purchase of the DTS! I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this concern with your seat though. I am not a technician or an engineer so I would not be able to offer you any technical advice regarding this. If you would like, I could assist you in locating a dealership near you and see if they would be able to look into this tomorrow. Please private message me or send me an email at socialmedia@gm.com with the subject line as “ATTN GREG”. Thank you very much for your time.

Thanks for the offer. I'm going to give a shot myself this weekend. Any documentation on how to take out the seat??

Well for whatever reason, once I took the side panel off that has the seat control levers, I tried it again, and it worked! I moved the seat all the way back and disconnected the forward/back control harness and called it a day.

Had the same problem once. At 6'3" myself i feel your pain! I pulled the side panel off the seat and a mangled quarter fell out. Its been fine ever since

    Hello Black Dawg,

I apologize that I did not see your earlier post, but I did not have any documentation about taking the seat out. I am glad to see that taking the side panel off seemed to allow the seat to be moved again. Maybe you had something in there like Cadillacman916 did. I am happy to hear that it is working though! Please feel free to private message me if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you very much for your time.
