How are your optional chrome rims holding up?

I looked at a lot of cars before purchasing my 06 DTS and almost every one had chrome rims that were flaking on the outer faces. The car I bought with only 40,000 KMS has never seen winter and has perfect chrome but suffered from blistering paint on the middles of the inside of the rims. I just spent the last couple days sanding out any existing paint blisters and re-sprayed the insides with specialized rim paint. Why? I don't want the blistering to eventually intersect the chrome faces and then start the flaking process. What gives with GMs paint/chrome process on these rims?

Perhaps road salt is eating them? Here is a car I looked at but did not buy, I saw this over and over again here in Ontario.

I live in Atlanta. My 2007's rims are perfect at 80,000 miles. They have never once been driven in snow.

I bought my DTS in Orange Park, Fl. I notice I was losing air on both tires on left side. The chrome on all four wheels are perfect. I took the car to a tires company and they found corrosion on both wheels where the tire meets the rim. They ground down the corrosion and used a sealer. I've had no other problems since.

Like few other folks I also live in the south and my Caddy has not seen the snow/sand/salt. I didn't know that GM does such a shabby job during the rims chroming process.

The rims on my '06 Performance are horrid. Big chunks are peeling off, and I have to have the beads re-sealed every couple months.

GM must have had poor quality control control on the wheels...
Some of them give a lot od trouble and some of them don't.

Sorry yours are not holding up well.
I haven't had any trouble with mine.

This pic was taken just a few minutes ago...
They have almost 133,000 miles on them and have never had to be resealed.
They are still in pretty fair shape for being as old as they are.

I guess you have to monitor the tires pressure very frequently. So how much does it cost to re-seal the beads every couple of months? Have you probed the possibility of a permanent solution (i.e., re-chroming the wheels) for a piece of mind unless you are planning to offload your caddy?

I have a 2008 DTS and also live in Ontario, have 2 rims that are getting chome fleck around the center emblem. 2 rims are in good shape. I have started look around to find a couple replacements if anyone knows of any.
