Cadillac DTS Forum - 2006 through 2012 Discussion, 2006 DTS Key Fob questions in Past Cadillac Vehicle Discussion; 1. Can one of those cooler/newer 2008+ DTS key fobs be programed to a 2006 DTS?
2. Will you be ...
I've seen those Fobs on Ebay for 2008 DTS but when you go and enter 2006 DTS it comes up not-compatible. Didn't want to risk $120 for something that may or may not work.
My Fobs are programmed through the Message center as well.
hey raven ive got a 07 they match up fine just do not get the one with the key built into it those will not work also if you want to change your key from the ugly crest to the color crest look for the blank for the 08 cts those work also its a beautiful thing to look at its a nice match
My Father has an 08 SRX and he has the key Fob I want. I assumed since the 08 DTS didn't have the key built into them I should be fine.
I thank you for the heads up on the built in key advisement. Ill be sure to stay away from that one. lol. My blank one is Cracked and does not have the crest which is disappointing.
just make sure that it is from a dts not those cadillacs that have a push button ingnition those will not work i paid 35.00 on ebay for mine shop around its worth it good luck brah btw make sure it is a 5 button remote

Re: 2006 DTS Key Fob questions
Make sure to get the DTS ones ... the STS / SRX ones will not work for you.
The STS one is somewhat easily spotted as it has an extra little 'button' on the bottom between the trunk release and the key ring slot to pull out the internal key blade to open the door in the case of a dead car battery.
I bought a used one from http://www.keylessentryremotefob.com/ for $17.77 for my 2006 DTS Performance. Worked like a charm. Even the remote start. Needed to program my existing one too, but was no problem. Paid more for the key ($28) at True Value hardware store, than I did for the remote.
