    Want to improve braking distance

    Hey y'all,

I'd like to hear some real-world experience on how to come to a stop in a shorter distance. I realize that it takes a while to bring 4000 lbs to a halt from speed but having driven the bride's SLK for a while I really notice how much distance is needed to stop a DTS. One day, that may bite me in the derriere...

So if any of you have addressed this issue, I'd love to hear about it.

Stick the brake pedal through the firewall: engage ABS. That is the fastest that the car will stop on that road at that temperature with those tires and brakes from that speed.

If you want more "brake" under non-ABS conditions, study the pages and links in the site for EBC Brakes - Automotive, U.S. Ultimax Black Dash rotors and Redstuff (just about dust-free after breakin) ceramic pads.

I installed Slotted / Drilled rotors with ceramic pads - Under $400 plus labor. No more fading when I'm hot dogging around.
