I'm new here, but I must say when I saw that back end of the new DTS, I instantly thought of that Chrysler myself. BUT, when that Chrysler model was out in 93, I remember thinking, oh man they're copying Cadillac!!!!! No comparison, haha. I'd have to say Chyrsler was riding on the shirt tails of Cadillac with that design in the first place.

I really don't see a Monte a$$ end in that photo. When I see a 5th ave K car in person I DO think of the older Caddies.

Those K cars must have been good cars because I still see many of them running around (as much as the old Beetles) even though they were sort of considered lemons when new.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but how about Chrysler copying Bentley in their latest 300?

Ralph, you keep referring to these as "K" cars and they are not. Your thinking Reliant and Dodge Aries and these are actually "Y" cars. The New Yorker and New Yorker Salon are "C" bodies and the New Yorker Fifth Avenue and Imperial are "Y" Bodies. I cant believe your comparing a 5th to a Reliant. LOL.

well in reality thats where they all came from ...K cars .....make a relaint very tall and a bit longer and you get a caravan ....a bit longer and wider you get H body Lancer and GTS ...

The K car is what saved Chrysler , saved so much cash on devlopment rehashing the k car and thats how they rode that car out of the red and into the black

Well I have to hand it to you... This picture just came out on Autoweek, and when you see it in grey and all lit up, I can certainly see the resemblance to the 5th Ave. Its pretty darn close...

    Actually that was me...

Have you ever read the book "Comeback:The Rise and Fall of the American Auto Industry"? Its AN AWESOME read, and while its dated now, it REALLY gave a HUGE insight into the Chrysler of the eighties, right up until the first "turnaround" they had with the Cab forward design cars and the first RAM redesign. Anyway, all of these cars, the New Yorker, Fifth Ave and etc. may have different official designations, but they were really just stretched and chopped versions of the core K car platform... which is why they all got lumped into the K Car designation. I remember reading in that book that Chrysler was in such trouble at that spot right at the end of the eighties, they werent even able to offer CD Players for a couple of years.

in a matter of speaking yes , you can easily trace deville back to citation , and trace citation to cimmaron ....but it isnt as easy as it is witht he K cars and the EEK family . as they "shared" a huge percentange of parts between cars
