Big Red finally let me down. For the past couple of months I added about 2 qt. of pre-mixed anti-freeze. Was worried about head gaskets till I saw some drops on the floor & started getting a rattling noise under the hood. Took in to-day to a non Caddy shop & they found the water pump leaking, the small belt that drives it was damaged & the tensioner pulley bearing noisey. 5 hrs labour to replace it & 127.90 for the pump. Remember when it took 20 mins. & 19.95 for a new pump.
How much did you pay for the labor. 127 for the pump is good.to change the pump you have to removed the water pump housing and that take a lot of work. I hope they change the housing gasket because if they didn't change it they will go bad very fast.
No they are 2 triangular and 2 rectangular they go between the engine and the water pump housing if you only pay 250 for labor that is great. I had to do the water pump twice the first time I got charge around 500 with the water pump the second time 600 because the water pump was after market it lock up and broke pulley and the tensioner. some after market are not good for these car.

Re: Water pump
Sorry to hear about Big Red, grullon10 is bang on about the 4 gaskets, the part they have to take off to get to our water pumps DTS 2006-2011 is called the crossover which has 4 gaskets like he explained. They are hard to see you need to use a spot flashlight and stand at the front look over the water pump pulley towards the fire wall to see three of them, then go to drivers side and shine it down close to firewall to see the fourth. They are a creamy white plastic looking gasket. Ranger has posted good pictures of the crossover in the past he could help you. They for sure should have been replaced I'm so sorry to say they will seep not leak untill they really go but if you smell coolant at all and can not find a leak and not loosing coolant in our cars it is almost always the crossover gaskets. Sorry.
A local shop here in Leesburg, 10 bays, 8 mech. & the owner patrols steady & is on the phone 90% of the time ordering parts & booking jobs in. His wife does the office. Booked steady about a week in advance. Seems to be very, very knowledgeable about cars. However I will quiz him about the gaskets as per Tom's Caddy's note. I'm glad we found this before we go back north 1st of April.
