I have a bridge to Brooklyn that I'll sell, cheap - until 12/31.

(Remember: The air we breathe is 80% Nitrogen.)

The real problem with nitrogen is the reason they use it in aircraft is it doesn't expand like straight air, so when the shop fills it to 32 psi cold, you get no expansion at running temps so you are running on under inflated tires.

    Ummmm, No !

Again, nitrogen forms 80% of the air we breathe, and nitrogen is just as susceptible to gas expansion/contraction due to heating/cooling as is any other gas.

The main hype behind the nitrogen fill thing is that it "has bigger molecules so it doesn't leak out of the tire as fast".

Itís a gimmick to make more money for shops. Shops would lease bottles in place of buying a converter. They would get 9 to 10 cars and 6 to 7 trucks out of a bottle. Bottles were $19.00 and charge $29.00 for cars and $34.00 for trucks. Itís like going to a bar. They get 20 to 25 shorts out of a bottle, but at least you get a buzz.

our nitrogen service comes with up to $150 per tire in road hazard insurance

that itself would seem worth it to me

I don't know if it's truth or hype; all I can offer anecdotally is that I had it in my STS's tires and I never had to top them off with air.

The only reason I got it was I got the tires at Costco and they put nitrogen in automagically.

My DTS also came from the dealership where I bought it with nitrogen, and I didn't have to top that off for a year-and-a-half. It may be bunk but apparently it worked for me.

hmm.. air is 80% nitrogen, the other gasses leach out.. every time you add air more nitrogen stays more other gasses leak out, eventually you'll have virtually pure nitrogen in there no matter what you do.
