Re: 2006 Base DTS Heated seat issue
Congrats on your DTS, RBCBANKER! Have you had a chance to check out the portion of your owners manual dealing with the heated front seats (page 1-4)? According to your manual,
"There are three temperature settings for each feature. A
column of three lights next to the buttons will display
which setting the feature is in: high, medium or
low. Three lights indicate the highest setting, two lights
for medium and one light for the lowest setting."
Has your heat been set to the lowest setting?
"When you press a button, the feature will turn on at the
highest setting. Each time you press the button, the
feature will go down one temperature setting.
To turn the feature off, keep pressing the button until
the display lights turn off.
If your vehicle has remote vehicle start and is started
using the remote keyless entry transmitter, the front
heated seats will be turned on to the high setting if it is
cold outside. See “Remote Vehicle Start” under
Remote Keyless Entry System Operation on page 2-5.
When the key is inserted into the ignition and the
ignition is turned on, the heated seat feature will turn
off. To turn the heated seat feature back on, press the
there's a multi- connector under the passenger seat that controls BOTH heat and a/c seats (if you have that) Can't remember which one (i think it's the smaller of the two, farther back under the seat than the other) it is but raise up the passenger seat and set it all the way back and inspect the integrity of the connections. .Mine stopped working and I found one of the connectors had a slightly melted pin area most likely due to less than ideal contact. I stuffed a bent staple in there to make better contact, reconnected and a year later, still working! The seats should be pretty warm in a few minutes and really hot after 10 or so.
Mine just stopped working smelt burning plastic and just like the last three times and poof no heated seats. third time ive had this repaired at GM, works for a few months and then melts the connector under the passenger seat. if i didnt have gmpp this could get crazy, i only have a 100dollar deductible.
