Re: 2006 Base DTS Heated seat issue

The issues with my heated seats on my 2006 DTS Performance continues to be a problem and baffles me. Replaced the electronic switch in the door...for about $400, and still doesn't work right. Heat works when on the back switch, but seat and back setting does not work...even though the lights are on and the back works when selected alone. Now the cooling seat fan for the driver doesn't work - the one thing I want the most to work. My mechanic says its not the switch that everyone one says it might be. Not sure what to do at this point. Mechanic says he can get a seat at junk yard with 50K miles on it for $150...but not sure if everything will work on that though. Bought extended warranty, but of course heated seats are not covered. Previous to the DTS, had 15 straight years of Japan cars (Maxima and 2 Acura TLs) and never had a problem with a heated seat in any of them. Pretty sad.

I had a similar problem with my 04 DeVille. The cooler and the cushion heat would work for about a minute and then quit until I restarted the car. The back-only heat worked fine. I replaced the cooler/fan module under the seat using a short Phillips head screwdriver for about $130 from GMPartsDirect.com. Got the part number from the local dealer. The hardest part was keeping my glasses on with my head upside down.
